Nicole Precel is an award-winning journalist, film maker and photographer with a passion for news and story telling.

She won the 2013 Melbourne Press Club Quill Award for best suburban report and has been a finalist for the 2011 Human Rights Awards for print and online media, a finalist in the 2011 United Nations Association of Australia Media Peace Award, a finalist in the Community Newspapers of Australia Award in 2009 and 2012, winner in CNA special publication and finalist in the South East Regional Media Awards for excellence in Print.

She completed a bachelor of arts/journalism from Monash University in 2008 in Melbourne.

She has reported from the frontline of the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires, interviewed Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard during the Federal Election and investigated the death and disappearance of Britt Lapthorne in Croatia.

She has been commissioned to make a number of documentaries, including an investigation into the complications and legal ramifications of Genetic Sexual Attraction, a form of consensual incest, through in depth interviews with people living illegally as incestuous couples throughout America, UK and Australia.

She travelled to the border of Vietnam and China to make a documentary about maternal health among the ethnic Hmong tribe for Al Jazeera English and another recently about the Wik people in Aurukun, Australia.

She has worked for SBS2, BBC London, Current TV, Marie Claire UK, News Corp, International Federation of Journalists, Al Jazeera English, AsiaLife HCMC, United Nations Population Fund, Business West and Star News Group.
